Prior to creating city walking, my initial research centred around the idea of Dérives. An abstract form of map making in which you allow yourself to be guided by things that you find interesting in your environment, rather than setting out with the objective of travelling from A to B. Completing a Dérive should allow yourself to walk freely through your surroundings, therefore the resulting map will only make sense to its creator.
Experimental printing, scanning and layering. Using a variety of tracing papers and acetate sheets, bound with clips, this book is meant to be taken apart by the reader and played with. Being able to see through each page allows the viewer to create a new intricate maze of streets and alley- ways each time they pick the book up.
